Been re-reading all the posts and it's great stuff has been caught in the northern part of the state, wonder what am I gonna need to do to find fed frequencies down here(mainly Charleston Area)? Do you guys do a limit search for a specific frequency band (Maybe like 159 to 174?)?

I've got some common FBI freqs from the wiki page, should I have it as NAC with a search for the squelch code?

A couple things I do. If I am pretty sure the freq in use, I'll program it once with the FBI's PL and a second time with the NAC. Around DC and Northern VA, when the new "shift" comes out they may switch from say P25 to analog about mid-day depending upon a couple variables like surveillance radius, radios being used, if everyone has received the latest encryption codes/keys and so on. So, just because you heard them once on a freq as P25, doesn't mean they'll be P25 tomorrow.

If you are unsure if what you've caught (if doing a search) is FBI, program it in twice, once as NAC search and once as CTCSS search.

Also, you might want to just run it open [No Tone / No NAC] there are networks [Federal] out there that have Multple PL's and/or NAC's depending on which agency is using the channel that day. ;)

Hey i'm picking up the following unid freqs from near Bunker Hill: 407.6625 RM NAC 421, 407.2625 RM NAC 421, 413.6375 M NAC 0F0, 413.8375 M NAC 0F0, 407.9000 RM NAC 205, 163.5125 RM NAC 00F, 162.0625 RM NAC 00F, 162.3375 RM NAC 007, 164.1750 RM NAC 011, 164.7250 RM NAC 012, 164.0875 RM NAC 754, 164.6750 RM NAC 075, 171.4625 RM NAC 563

Plug these in and let me know what you hear, note that 163.5125 and 162.0625 seemed to be linked and are part of security for a large facility.

163.5125 - 167th Airlift Fire
162.0625 - Believe it's the input to the above
407.9000 - I found this a while back in Winchester. All traffic was encrypted. I think it might be the new(er) FEMA building off RT11
162.3375 - I have this as an FAA freq.
164.1750 - I have this as "whitehouse" and NEST
164.7250 - Either NPS, Bureau of Land Management or USGS (which I think all are under DOI). Also listed as used by park rangers in Gettysburg National Military Park with a different NAC
164.0875 - Prince William Forest Park
164.6750 - Probably another DOI freq.

in response, on 163.5125 I also hear the analog fm traffic occasionally from the 167th but there is a seperate p25 repeater and 162.0625 is coming up as the same signal strength every time just a bar less than 163.5125, i had them both on two scanners at the same time and they were repeating the same traffic which leads me to believe they are both repeaters. 164.0875 is coming in full strength constantly which is weird if its the input to the prince william forest. 162.3375 is enc a lot but I have heard fire rescue and security traffic, 407.9000 doesnt seem to be in daily use...407.6625 however is and is listed as a FEMA freq in lists ive seen. Also look at the Fed Nac Wiki and most of the Nacs I posted aren't listed. Just food for thought.

Heard some P25 traffic today on 418.900. This is typically DEA Ch 2 (repeater), however I cannot determine the NAC or hear the ops since I'm still using an analog scanner. It might be worth plugging in and seeing what shows up for a NAC.

The NAC should be $156
