Here are some frequencies/talkgroups monitored outside the convention center during the Fenty Inaugural Ball this past Saturday evening:

464.5000 [ d631]
464.5500 [ d371] "parking stickers"
469.5000 [ d115] Catering/Food

Public Safety Conventional Channels:
460.2625 [ ] MPD; P25 digital
465.5375 [ ] MPD; P25 digital
867.7625 [156.7] Medical Calls/First Aid Stations (Regional Interservice 6; DC Fire Direct 1)
868.5125 [156.7] Medical Calls/First Aid Stations (Regional Interservice 1)

DC Trunked System Talkgroups:
2080 DC Fire Inspectors
16656 MPD Special Operations Division

First time I've ever encountered the MPD P25 digital frequencies in use. They only chatted briefly on them. The Regional Interservice channels were used extensively in simplex mode for medical calls.

I think I'm misunderstanding you, digital is all MPD uses now. Are you're referring to encryption?

Sorry, I meant the digital non-trunked channels (460.2625 and 465.5375). They are licensed for simplex operation, with 4000 mobile units.

Ahh, fully understand now. The surveillance channels get pretty good usage, but naturally being simplex, if you're not within a couple blocks of them, you're not going to hear them. Also, in addition to the simplex surveillance channels, each district has their own secure (encrypted) channel, so the units now have many choices for alternate channels (this includes all those other outside jurisdiction channels which also get "alternate channel" usage).
