I hammered out some QSO's on 15m phone from about 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. today. Stations from Ontario down to New Mexico and Texas, and even got an E5 station from the Cook Islands (Cook Islands - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia) -- I was totally confused when he gave me his call -- after about the third time I said "again?" he confirmed he was in the Cook Islands. There must have been something magical happening!

We made over 1400 contacts this year, up from 1036 last year, not sure what the final count is for 2011 yet, but certainly one of our best Field Days in recent history as a 2A station.

I worked some 80 meter CW from the mobile. Tough enough right there, but the ops were nothing but F1 F1 F1. Hey guys, okay you're the hot contester, you win, but now it's Field Day, slow down and LISTEN!

Could have worked many more stations, but if you weren't S9, they wouldn't take the time to dig you out. Very frustrating.

Here's the local news story on the operations from W5OK @ Chandler Park in Tulsa, OK: Ham Radio Operators Descend On Tulsa - NewsOn6.com - Tulsa, OK - News, Weather, Video and Sports - KOTV.com | This was a combined effort of the Tulsa Amateur Radio Club and the Tulsa Repeater Organization. We ran class 5A. BTW, the picture on the web story is of the back of my head - my best side, of course.

We worked 6 - 80 meters with operators from age 10 on up. Everybody was amazed at how open the bands were while using the simplest of antennas from verticals made of electrical conduit to dipoles and a G5RV.
Concluded operations this morning with a great breakfast and antenna teardown party.

I'm a new Ham of only 3 weeks, so this was my first field day. I had a blast working HF on 15m & 20m. I was working under the club call sign K4NRC in Newnan, GA. From about 3:00am to 8:00am, I was the only one that stayed up and solo. Before this I had worked very little HF, so it was a new experience that I definitely enjoyed.

For the majority of the day, we had our antenna facing NW and I was easily working TX to CA to the midwest from GA. Later on in the early morning hours, we rotated NE and I worked up and down the East Coast.

I worked Hawaii several times, all over Canada, an even Puerto Rico off the back of the beam

I think we ended up with about 500 contacts on the SB log we had setup and just over 1000 total. We had 3 stations setup (CW, psk31, & SB Voice), but no one worked the psk or CW radio's for about 8+ hours through the evening.

...w4cn / ve3ow?

I was with the ARTS club in Louisville, W4CN. We kicked @ss on 6 meters. If you worked us let me know.

Was the best I can remember on 6 for field day. Did around 130..had to paper log for a while till the IBM thinkpad got fixed, so those contacts will have to be translated back to readability for submission. Ran a Yaesu FT857; 75 watts out due to power supply limitations, into a M2 loop about 10 -15 feet up. Had a nice run around 50.230mhz, held the frequency for awhile and had what could be described as " the closest thing to a pileup " ever. People worked us off the back and side of their beams as well. Curious as to your operating conditions? Had a pipeline into MO on Sunday with the occasional east coaster.

The band was quiet noise wise but activity varied, at night it was little to no dx and in the late morning to afternoon it picked up. We worked from Maine to Colorado on 6

So, what exactly is a "report" they kept asking for?

I tuned around on 10 and 6 a bit and the bands were on fire. I responded to one and they kept asking for the report and others were giving a four digit code. I had no idea what to tell them.

I tried to google it and found the official rules for this year but couldn't find anything about the report code format they are using.

Apparently I skipped over that too quickly and totally missed how they are combined to make the report. Thanks.

Quite a number of stations worked from W3AD, FN10 EPA ... Numerous double hops take place on six meters out to the West Coast of California... Worked four sections in California including ORG, LAX!! As a matter a fact most of our contacts were on 6 meters.

Did a few HF contacts including PSK31 on 20 meters, spoke to some other people on 11 meters using our 11 meter Radio Shack transceiver

Was so happy that six meters was so wide open this year for field day. Hope that next year is even better!!!

We really don't get too many contacts from Iowa, South Dakota, or Texas on a regular basis either so the contacts that we made were quite enjoyable. Also worked some Canadian stations in Manitobia as well So was the chili, burgers, bratwurst, and related food items

**HIGHLY RECOMMEND N3FJP'S LOGGING SOFTWARE FOR FIELD DAY** It allowed networking all of our logs together and made things so much easier!
