To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Figuring out voice and data frequencies Steamboat Resort Colorado

Hi, I am currently programming Steamboat Resorts's Capacity Plus Multi-site system into my XPR7550e for a trip I have coming up. When adding voice channels to the Cap+ voice list I ran into the problem of maxing out the list at 8 voice frequencies. Then remembered data freq also exists haha. Could someone help me differentiate the voice and data frequencies below, I assume there will be 8 voice and 4 data but could be wrong, I have only programmed MotoTRBO Cap+ Single Sites before. Thanks for any help!
FYI: I like listening in on ski resort ops, I do not or ever intend on keying up on someone else's system that I am not a part of.

I don't know....because I'm at about the same learning stage as you are. But suspect you could setup each site into a different channel pool and then select a different personality for each site that you want to monitor.
If you have resolved this on your own....please let us know so we can all learn what you did.
Thanks!

Each site needs to be programmed with it's own voice list.

Where it changes is in the creating of the Capacity Plus Site List and channels.

With the site list, you create the number of sites the system has. Then each one will get a voice list, and RX group list. Also needs the RSSI threshold needs to be set to help the radio roam. Default is about -108 but varies with the client and how close/far each site is from each other.

Once the site lists are setup, then you work on the channels for your zone.
When you create the channel, you will select the channel type "Capacity Plus Personality Linked".
This is were it will change up from creating like other channels.
In the "General" section, check the "Auto Roam" box (assuming they don't use GPS for roaming which I haven't figured out yet) and right below that you will add your Site List you created previously.
Because the site list has the RX Groups, you don't need to worry about it not showing in the RX section.
Repeat as needed for the sites created.

To prevent accidental transmissions, leave the "Contact Name" as NONE in the TX section.
Without contact name, radio will never transmit. But you can enjoy listening all you want.

If you have CPS 2.0, you should be able to read this code plug I've made for my R7 to help you understand this a bit more.

This is pretty much exactly what I did thanks for writing it out for future reference

Thank you for posting the ctb2 file! I tried to read it into CPS 2.0 but got the above error.
Am I doing something wrong?

I have no clue what this means. I'm sorry you're having issues with opening the CP.

Here's a PDF with screenshots. Hopefully this will help.

The ctb2 file was created using a newer version of CPS than you are opening it with. You need to install CPS 2.0.146 or newer to open the file.

For reference, I created the ctb2 file with CPS 2 ver 2.146.122.0
