Does anyone know of an inexpensive way to get a hold of a fire dept pagers. I am referring to the "squirrel" pagers. I am looking for a two channel alert type. Along the lines of a Minitor II or III. I know the frequencies that I need to put on them I just need to get a hold of one. Any help would be greatly appreciated. If anyone knows of someone who has one, or know how to obtain one from the county ie: Baltimore, or A.A., or know of someone who is getting rid of one, fleamarket, what have you. I just need to get a hold of one. Thanks

did you "google" for one or check ebay?

As far as used pagers, there are probably more people looking for one than there are units availablr since most vol firefighters want one but don't want to pay hundreds of dollars for one

I have a Minitor ll. It is set up for Montgomery County right now. Since moving to Delaware we use 3's and 5' here so needless to say it is sitting in a draw. PM me if your interested.

I recently purchased a brand new minitor 5 for only $345.00 from "DISCOUNT FIRE PAGERS" in FL I am pretty sure they have a website they probably have a used one cheaper than the new one I got. they will program it for you. Also If you have access to "Marlyand fire Dispatch" I have ads in there for a company in Anne Arundel or PG co. but I forgot the name of the company. sorry

Do you have to get the pager freqs for them or do they have the numbers for all areas?

what you need to do is find out what frequencies your FD uses and then tell them. They just need to install the crystals that have the right frequencies on them

That is true if you get a fire pager you must have the CTCSS for the Freq and have the HZ for a station that you want. I think you only can do one unless they have updated them. I have the BCD396T it does Fire Tone Out. It does 10 Tones. If you have a HZ counter and record software you can plug the scanner in the computer and leave the FD channel on and record the tones and than load the HZ program it might take awhile depends on the tone. I have a few I found. I think the new pagers you can load the computer have to have the software and cable.. I think they do not do crystals anymore just a program board like 2 way radios.

I am looking to get a pager for Anne Arundel County. I am thinking about buying one from Ebay. Anyone know anywhere around here that programs them?

Not sure what kind of radio(s) you have but you may be much better off getting a Uniden 396 -- you can program that yourself - and change it whenever you want.

Yeah, I might buy one of those scanners that have fire tone out. I just want to program Station 13 and BC 2.

Yeah, I am gonna do that. The programming seems easier. I will probably buy Uniden BC346XT because it is cheaper.

Well I ordered the BC346XT yesterday and got it today. FedEx is quick! It was much easier to program the tones in it then buying a pager. Thats for the suggestion.

It works great!
