Two fires in Northern Colorado are drawing much attention from the fire fighters, the Silver Creek Fire near Kremmling and the Seaman Fire northwest of Loveland. Four tankers have been moved to Metro Airport in Broomfield to fight these fires. Tankers 41 (Bae-146) and 101 (MD-82) are on the ramp near the Forest Service Office and Tankers 03 and 167 are parked at the Jeffco Tanker Base.
Best freqs at the airport are 118.6 Tower; 121.7 Ground, 126.1 App/Dep, and 124.475 Tanker Base Ramp. 168.65 NFM is the National Dispatch freq and tankers will contact them after departure giving their destination and ETA as well as other info. Go to http://www.radioreference.com/apps/db/?aid=3521and scroll down to Initial Air Attack Aircraft Communications. There's a link to a map but it's several years out of date. I'm told the Roosevelt NF freqs are active as well...
Good hunting!
