I've seen several programs that can be used with a scanner on the computer to function as a pager, but has anyone ever thought to make a "mod" to the firmware (not condoning anything illegal or non-legit, just a thought) that enable the scanner to work in a way like the SAME alert for WX for fire pagers? I have a pager for my FD, but it's kinda messed up right now (not really interested in having the FD send it for repairs since we're ordering new ones once we go digital anyways...). Just had the thought, would be interesting to program my station's tones in & be alerted from my scanner when we get a call...
Firmware "Mod" for paging from scanner..possible?

The newer Uniden scanners have a tone out feature and can be used like pagers.
Yeah, I saw that literally right after I posted that...just didn't have the energy to remove the topic...but is there a way to mod it for Radioshack scanners?
