Does anyone know what frequencies First Energy (Toledo Edison) uses in NW Ohio? I have the frequencies listed here in the FCC data base but there is absolutely no traffic on any of them. Maybe they have gone to Nextel and no longer use 2-way radio?

If anyone is interested, it looks like First Energy here in NW Ohio has moved their operations to Nextel and abandoned their 2-way systems.

Didn't First Energy used to be Ohio Edison?
If so, Ohio Edison switched to Nextel several years ago.

I don't think it's actually Nextel; if I recall correctly t's a format called "Harmony" which is similar to Nextel but not part of the Nextel network.

Unless I'm confusing First Energy with DP&L and Duke Energy...

Duke went to Motorola Harmony two years ago. I heard that DP&L was supposed to switch to Harmony a year or two ago yet they are still plugging away on their networked EDACS system.

What will Toledo Edison be doing now? Since Nextel will be taken out of service in the next couple years... anyone know?

They may be using the newer Nextel. It's not the iden Nextel but sprints 3G service. Which is very unreliable it's very garbled and never wants to work. I thought they would be using the AEP EDACS system. Did they ditch that?
