• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Hi Guys

I have a Icom 400 pro set up as a 40ch UHF CB in the 4x4 and its worked flawlessly for 3 years but has recently stopped transmitting on most channels unless I hold down the MON key for a few seconds. It makes a funny digital noise and then is able to transmit on all channels.

I have worked out through 3 months of searching that it has something to do with the selcal tone mute setting (or something like that) but no one on the countess forums has actually given instructions on how to reverse the settings to let the radio transmit again. I'd say I've hit the wrong combination of buttons in the settings mode and turned something on or off while playing around.

I have a clone cable but have changed to a new computer and lost the software in the process and it seems that Icom have asked everyone to remove download links so that's a no go.

Is there someone that can either translate the technical user manual or share a step by step process to bring it all back into order.

Cheers
Mitch

icom 400 pro

What country are you in? In U.S. a small portion of 462 and 467 mHz is used for GMRS and FRS but we don't have a CB band in the UHF range. I had to Google Icom 400 pro to find out what kind of radio it was. I never saw a service manual listed, but I did not look very hard. Have you tried a local radio shop that sales the radio for help?

I'm in Australia.

I managed to finally fix it.

I looked at the settings of a channel that worked and found that one of the settings was switched on instead of off. I'd say something to do with the CTCSS

Its only taken 3 months but she works now.
