Fixing the BCD396XT "popping" sound from headphone jack at start/end of transmissions

I think this was discussed here already, somewhere, but I can't seem to find the thread. Does anyone know how to mitigate the "popping" sound one hears from a BCD396XT's headphone jack when it opens and closes squelch to receive a transmission? I heard it wasn't an easy fix, might require opening the unit up and soldering something to the jack itself?

It's really noticeable when hooked up to my car via a basic auxiliary input that Camry's provide or on my computer via the line-in. The sound itself is a low bass sound.

Thanks!

No need to open up the scanner. It takes an audio isolation transformer to remove the DC component. Sometimes they are called ground loop isolator. Connect it in-line from the scanner to the car audio system. They are available with and with-out connectors. The connectorized type may be the wrong type of connectors. I would search ebay or maybe the RadioShack site.

I've got a GRE PSR-300...I get a humming and sometimes a popping noise when i plug it into charge and have it plugged into external speakers. Can this be the same issue I am having? Will I need a ground loop isolator and maybe, just maybe that will fix it?

Yeah, I've bought one of those ground loop isolators before. It's in a packing bin somewheres, I believe. RCA plugs definitely won't work. I thought I also bought one of the standalone isolation transformers, but I can't remember where I stuck that, either.

Hmm, rather than attempting to solder one up myself, might any of these from Amazon also work? They at least claim to remove engine whine, something else I also get coming through the speakers.

Amazon.com: C2G / Cables to Go 40000 3.5mm Extension Stereo Audio Isolation Transformer (Black): Electronics

Amazon.com: PAC Ground Loop Isolator for 3.5 MM Applications: Car Electronics

Amazon.com: Pyle PLGI35T 3.5 mm/1/8-Inch Stereo Audio Ground Loop Isolator: Car Electronics

Amazon.com: Kensington Noise Reducing Car Audio AUX Cable for MP3 or SmartPhone, including iPhone 4S: MP3 Players & Accessories

That first one (C2G) is stupidly overpriced, so I am probably not going for it. And the Kensington I am not sure about. They refer to it more as a noise reduction filter versus an actual ground loop isolator, but one reviewer does note it eliminated the engine whine in the same exact car model that I own (Camry 2007).
