Has any one heard any traffic on the Fl DOT low band system? I am in District 7 according to their site and I have never heard anything on the D 7 frequencies.

Ok, from what I gather FDOT and FHP use ProVoice. Their version of encryption. It literally is impossible to monitor their frequencies irrelevant of the type of scanner you use. Hope this might help a bit.

FDOT road maintenance uses low band-well sort of. They do use it, but most of the time I think they use cell phone comms. I rarely hear them use the low band.

Now, the former FDOT Commerical Vehicle Enforcement guys do use SLERS, along with FHP, as they are one in the same now (referred to FHP-CVE).

Exactly correct!

FDOT has a state wide low band repeater system. I believe it's broken up by district. Here in District 4 (southeast Florida coast), there are six repeater sites. The frequencies are: 47.38 in Vero Beach; 47.06 in Palm City; 47.20 in West Palm Beach; 47.36 in Delray Beach; 47.18 in Ft. Lauderdale; and 47.04 near the Broward/Collier County Line. The repeater input for all sites is 45.80. I believe the other districts have similar systems, but I have no details or frequencies. There are also common simplex channels assigned, but I have never heard any activity on them. These are mainly in the 45.xx MHz range; some are the old FHP, FDLE, and Marine Patrol low band frequencies.

For the repeaters, you would just need to monitor the closest site to you, as all the traffic is simulcast on all sites within each district. Just search from 47.02 to about 47.50. As has already been said, there is very little traffic; most people prefer to use their cell phones.
