Greetings,

I stumbled across a listing for a Harris XG-75P on eBay. Seller states the radio is locked (red flag #1) and there is also a state property tag on the inside of the radio with an email address and owner name (even bigger red flag #2). Recently I had a similar experience so hopefully this radio can be recovered if it has not been surplussed. Low low price of $149.99. The seller location is FL. Looks like a duck, walks like a duck, and quacks like a duck. If any further is required send a PM or leave a comment.

Here is the link for anyone who needs it.

In Tennessee we are mostly all on Tennessee Advance Communications Network (TACN) so it isn’t too hard to find a system administrator. I understand FL is a little different. Unfortunately I’m a busy guy as a scientist and EMA nerd and I really don’t have time to track down a sys admin. Surely one will run across this - hopefully before it gets sold. Assuming it isn’t a truly surplussed radio.

Not sure here about the FL System Admin if it is under SLERS (state law enforcement radio system) side.

Looking up that name on LinkedIn shows he hasn't worked for FL Health in 2 years, so sending him an email probably wouldn't get you anywhere.

Well; this should get you to his department even if he has moved on.

The Medical Reserve Corps was founded in 2002 and is a partner program with Citizen Corps, a national
network of volunteers dedicated to ensuring hometown security. For Florida-specific information or to learn
how you can become involved in an MRC unit, visit www.floridamrc.com or contact the Bureau of
Preparedness and Response at (850) 245-4040. To learn more about the national effort, visit

the seller has sold many of these (or similar) on eBay. I will go out on a limb here and say that I don't think something nefarious is going on with the seller (as was implied above) - it's certainly not uncommon to see used radios hit the streets with property tags still intact.

the other side of this would be - either the seller doesn't care (?) about the property tag - or he's too ignorant to remove it. (sorry to be blunt - but only a complete fool would try to sell something stolen with the picture of the property tag in the auction)

I also am unsure what exactly "locked" means - inhibited? password protected? could be that the programming was nuked and it says "Unprogrammed" or something.
