Hello All. Trying to program a radio for a friend, and need the correct pair for Flatlands VAC in Brooklyn NY. I know they have a VHF and UHF frequency, but need to know exactly what they're using. PL's helpfull too.

Thanks!

The VHF channel is the primary channel for operations. How do I know this you might ask, well I was a member there for many years some years ago and was the communications officer for a year.

They're licensed for a UHF repeater on 462.425, so that might be their primary channel these days. Their license for 155.280 is not repeated, so it wouldn't have the same wide-area coverage. I don't know what mike4164 means by "I was a member there...some years ago", but a lot can change in a short period of time.

Best thing to do is get ears on both frequencies and figure it out for yourself, including verifying any PL/DPL in use on either frequency. Then once everything is confirmed, let's get it submitted to the database for New York City.

ULS License - Public Safety Pool, Conventional License - KAQ513 - FLATLANDS VOLUNTEER AMBULANCE CORP

ULS License - Industrial/Business Pool, Conventional License - WPYX242 - FLATLANDS VOLUNTEER AMBULANCE CORPS & FIRST AID CORPS INC

155.280 is a very strong freq. in that area as there used to be several VAC's that used it there and the antenna's are still there. I am still friends with several people there also. They might be using the UHF now I am not sure but I will try to find out and let you know asap. Since 155.280 is listed and still used as a statewide EMS channel that might be why they still have it. Like I said I will check it out. As for being a member there I was active for several years and grew up in the neighborhood and my mom still lives there. I got my start in EMS with FVAC. When I was there last, a few months ago they still used the VHF channel for ops. I always monitor them when I am in the city. I have both channels programmed into all my scanners and 2 way radios as well and monitor them both. The area they cover does not need a very strong signal since they dont go citywide unless there is a major incident, that is why they got the UHF freq. at that time. I will make some calls this week and find out what I can for you and let you know. They do have 2 base radios for their freq. and have them both on at all times.

Sounds good, Mike...thanks. We should really get these guys in the database since there seems to be interest in them. I'll hold off until you double check with them and find out the specifics.

I'm a current member @ FVAC. They do not use the UHF portables, only the VHF ones. Their freq is 155.280.
