Please forgive my ignorance ... I've been out of the scanning loop for a long time. I used to buy crystals for these freqs. I hear the "go's" on FERN, but I seem to remember hearing a lot more by monitoring these freqs in addition to FERN.
I have programmed the Air Life and Flight for Life frequencies into my Pro-96 using Win96 ...
Should the RX Mode be CT/DC or FM?

These are the freq's that I've entered in:

123.0750 AL Dispatch
130.1500 FFL Dispatch
123.0250 Metro Air/Air
155.3550 Dispatch

Also, I remember monitoring the "med" channels ... that ambulances used to communicate with ER's ... do they still exist?

Thanks!
Paul

I don't have a 96 but do know the first three freqs. on your list are AM, and the only med channels I ever hear anymore are 462.975 & 462.950.

Thanks Jerry. I should know this stuff ...

I read some other posts about Med channel TG's ... are these on the state DTRS system? I see hospital TG's in the DTRS listings in the DB, but not sure what frequency bank they are in ... any ideas?

Oi ... I figured it out. Thanks for your help.
The list all in table function is nice ... too bad I didn't see it before I opened my yap.

Any question is a good question. Most EMS to hospital reports are done by cell phones (I think). I very seldom hear Denver use their talkgroups for that.

The airmedical freqs posted above are correct and also add 155.400 for Greeley Airlife.

Each licensed hospital in the state has a DTRS talk group assigned but limited to no use of those so far.

Mostly all cellular med reports but choppers still use Med-9, Med-10 and there aircraft freqs for med reports and L/G 72 landing on Parker Rd now with Aurora E-6 and they will transport to the level 1 at Swedish and use med-9 for the patient report.

Cool Jim ... I'm hearing it now ... but only on FERN (landed in southbound lanes?). I'm way out west (Lakewood) so I may not hear anything on med 9 or 10, but I appreciate the info.

Might not hear much from the chopper trauma arrest patient has been pronounced onscene.

APD officers using Tac-22 for the call.

I think the frequencies in the 120-130ish range should be programmed for AM mode on the scanner. I believe I had them as FM and all I would hear was static whenever someone was talking. Once I switched to AM, I could hear conversation on the frequencies.

When I was with Northglenn Ambulance from 1981 to 1990 we used the MED channels to give our reports to the hospitals. We would first come up on "D&C 10" (Dispatch & Coordination 10) and contact St. Anthony's Communication Center to request a MED channel to whichever hospital we were going to. They would then set up a patch to that hospital and tell us which MED channel to use. The MED channels were setup in duplex with the ambulances transmitting 5 MHz higher than the hospitals. Unlike D&C 9 & 10 (sometimes called MED 9 & 10) the 8 different MED channels were not on a repeater system where you could just monitor one frequency and here both sides of the transmission (for the most part anyway). If using a scanner you would have to change channels to hear the other half of the conversation. The frequencies for the channels are listed below:

Channel - Hospital - Ambulance
MED - 1 - 463.000 - 468.000
MED - 2 - 463.025 - 468.025
MED - 3 - 463.050 - 468.050
MED - 4 - 463.075 - 468.075
MED - 5 - 463.100 - 468.100
MED - 6 - 463.125 - 468.125
MED - 7 - 463.150 - 468.150
MED - 8 - 463.175 - 468.175

D&C 9 - 462.950
D&C 10 - 462.975

NOTE: This is how things were set up at the time I left Northglenn Ambulance. How things are being done now, I haven't a clue!

For you southern Colorado listeners:
Memorial Star (Memorial Hospitals helo) is dispatched on AMR's El Paso County TG, although they can operate on anything.
LG3 still uses VHF for dispatch, but they can also operate on anything.
Also, the TG's on the El Paso County system for hospital comms are used almost exclusively over other forms, however I do not believe they are on DTRS.

Yep. Fire `A' [153.7850MHz] is their paging channel these days.

I was going to mention that as well because I was listening yesterday to dispatch help Air Life with in flight instructions on FIRE A.

Things haven't changed much in the years I've been away from scanning, in the monitoring of these freqs. They're tough to monitor without a decent antenna ... but I was able to catch several one-way chopper go's yesterday morning for lg1 and lg 72 and 73. (Was a busy morning)

Thanks again for all your feedback ... I appreciate it!

Just a quick comment on this,

LG3 uses the VHF FM frequency for dispatch, they make their medical reports to the hospitals on the appropreate Hospital talkgroups for the ElPaso / Colo Spgs. System.
