the idea of having a radio is to set it up the way you want.
i am not familiar with the HP radios, but on the other ones i just set up a system, so in your case a favorite list, and put them in there.

A cheap SDR dongle and software works pretty well. <$50, an antenna, basic speakers, and you're in business. You can easily record it on the computer. A bonus is that you get the subcarrier info as to station, artist, and song, scrolling at the top of the software, like when using SDR Sharp.

How to find and save FM radio stations using 536HP scanner.
You can use Discovery mode and set the range to 88-108MHz using WFM and 100KHz step. Discovery mode settings

If you instead use search you go to Search for... and select Edit Custom and enter the same frequency range and step and modulation in one of the Custom ranges. Set the delay to -10 sec so that it automatically continues seatch after 10 sec. Then go up a couple of steps in the menu to Custom Search and start the search. Push the number buttons so that you only have your single search range activated.

Do Fn+Replay to start recording and it will save all findings in individual recording files that you'll have to play going to Settings and Replay Options.

Check in Broadcast Screen in the Srch/CloCall OPt menu that the FM broadcast band blocking are not set to On.
If the FM transmitters are too strong and search and Discovery stops on a mix of signals that indicate an overload issue you might need to enable the Attenuator setting.
