• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

Fire wall?

Waall, Ah used mah .45 once, but took out the AC. :) :) (Only Kiddin') :D

Seriously, assuming my 2003 Expedition is similar, I ran power and others down the passenger side door frame area exiting to under the carpet-trim and to the floor mounted rig under the passenger seat. - For safety and abraision, I ran it inside some decent Braid.
(It also helped ground the hood.)

Go to my http://hams-r.us page and click on the Expedition photo for a slideshow of that installation.

However why would you run Coax into the Engine compartment??

I have a 2006 F-150 STX (2004-2008 have same body style). In my truck there is a factory opening about 3/4" in diameter on the passenger side firewall (I used this opening to run a few auxiliary power cables for my carputer setup)

You can access it easily from under the hood if you remove the battery first. It is "sealed" by a black circular adhesive pad. Just peel it off (or punch a hole through it). On the inside of the truck it comes out above the fuse box.

Out of curiosity, where are you mounting your antenna that would require running a coax through the firewall?

I have a 2004 Ford triton

There is a round gromet opening on the driver side you should be able to see it looking under the hood, It was really accessible and I ran my power cables and coax thru.

There is always room on the drivers side to get wires through one of several grommets that are there now. If you look around just a little from the hood side, you should see room either around the emergency brake cable or even around the one that has the big wire bundle. I use a drill to open up a hole as the grommets are too tough and thick to push a screw driver through most of the time. Just be careful and look from the inside before running the drill. You don't want to do any damage to any wires already there. You will probably need a flashlight to be able to see much.

Been doing it this way for years on I don't know how many vehicles.
