Fort McMurray frequencies

Here are some frequencies I have taken from "The Alberta Frequency List" by J&M Communications that you can try that are for the area, just note I can't guarantee anything as I've never been up there myself to check these out yet, but these may be still worth a try:

Ft Mac Heli Fire/Forestry: 118.1000

Ft Mac Ambulance/Fire 169.2300 Dispatch Channel 3
Ft Mac Ambulance/Fire: 169.5500 Dispatch Channel 2
Ft Mac Fire/Pub. works: 169.5600
Ft Mac Ambulance/Fire: 169.9200 Dispatch Channel 1
Ft Mac Fire Dept. : 406.0375

RCMP can be found within the 155-157MHz range.

I've also got a slew of suncor/syncrude mining frequencies listed in the 162-172 and 412-465MHz ranges but its much too big of a list to post here, what I could do for you though is email or pm these to you upon your request. I think your best bet though, is to do a search of the area using the tools provided at this website: http://sd.ic.gc.ca/engdoc/main.jsp under the heading "Radio Frequency Search" in which you can do a geographical search, licensee search or frequency searches.

73's and best wishes for your monitoring success!

Hi DX,

Thanks for replying to my post.

I'm interested in acquiring the Syncrude frequencies. I tried the link you provided but I'm a newb and don't understand what they are asking. I'm particularly interested in the Mine Chat channel.

I bought a Kenwood TH-G71A radio and am very pleased with it.

TIA

I'd almost bet by now that they've advanced to a trunked 800MHz system seeing as they have (or had, we'll see yet :) ) this many channels but let me know what you folks find.

Syncrude went trunk years ago. They still own a few vhf/uhf frequencies. They also use mike where and if necessary

Syncrude use an Ericsson 4 site EDACS Trunked Radio System comprising of over 2,000 mobile and handheld radios. Which mine are you referring too (AURORA) if so they are on site 4 and a trunk talkgroup.

I would really like to take you up on an email containing the Suncor Radio Frequencies. I live in Central Alberta, and work up north often. Look me up, thanks, thecam@ymail.com.

Those are very old frequencies.... They haven't used bucketwheels or draglines on the oilpatch for many, many years.

From my time living up there, they have definitely gone trunked. I never lingered north of Fort Mackay for very long, so I didn't catch any frequencies or confirmed any systems, but they are definitely not on Simplex anymore.

Other than aviation, emergency and the occasional railroad, there isn't much to listen to up there.
