• Effective immediately we will be deleting, without notice, any negative threads or posts that deal with the use of encryption and streaming of scanner audio.

We've noticed a huge increase in rants and negative posts that revolve around agencies going to encryption due to the broadcasting of scanner audio on the internet. It's now worn out and continues to be the same recycled rants. These rants hijack the threads and derail the conversation. They no longer have a place anywhere on this forum other than in the designated threads in the Rants forum in the Tavern.

If you violate these guidelines your post will be deleted without notice and an infraction will be issued. We are not against discussion of this issue. You just need to do it in the right place. For example:

I heard a couple radio techs who were in Lawton the other day. They were basically saying
Ft Sill was going with the state as soon as they could get the talk groups programmed. They
weren't that happy with what they had been using. One tech also said the Army liked the idea
of the (New??) Poteau OK site. Would a Poteau provide coverage into Ft Chaffee ???
Could be.

Next to a scanner...

Perhaps they will get a link on the state system, but I would doubt they would swap from their new 3-site semi-encrypted full-P25 system in exchange for a "non-standardized" Motorola type II (and in a different band, so they'd have to buy all new radios too).

I wonder why they aren't happy...perhaps they don't like how digital voice sounds compared to analog?
