Thanks for looking into that Greg,

As the system is brought up to power, maybe someone in the area can get Pro96Com or Unitrunker running to confirm what the FCC provides. Seems frequency allocations are more of a guideline rather than an actual law now days ;)

I have been checking and I am showing an ID of 0054h-101 P25. I looked in the FCC and that is showing Franklin County. Looks like they are trying to get things going there.

I was in Louisburg today and I had 151.1525 programed in to a P25 system and I had the scanner use the analyze option on my PSR-500. It gives me 98% signal and N9A6 keeps showing up. When I do this on other systems I usually recieve an ID similar to 0054h-101. So maybe I'm doing something wrong.

Sent using Taptalk.

This is odd, it looks to me like an unrelated NAC is in use compared to the system ID. The N in N9A6 would suggest it's the NAC transmitted by the voice channels (serves a similar function to Connect Tones in Type II systems) and the actual system ID would be 054 in hex (hence the h in 054h). True P25 systems have a 3 character system ID and Type II systems have a 4 character.

And the plot thickens...

Finally hearing some testing today on TGID 102. Control Channel has switched over to 151.280 today. I am sure this will continue while testing is going on.

Win500 works best for me, I suggest checking the wiki for all the different software out there, most have a 30 day trial that you can play with. If you get hung up later today, PM me your email address and I'll build you a simple starter file to get you going.

I also suggest downloading Pro96Com so you can run that on the new system and learn all the trunking tables, and various system details.

There's several of us running both Win500 & Pro96Com daily, so feel free to ask a question, even if it is simple.

Ok it took a little while but the scanner has been ordered.

Now, I have a Laird VHF mobile antenna that I use to have on my vehicle. This is a VHF system, and the majority of what I listen to will be VHF(with the exception of maybe VIPER). I plan on setting this up outside my house, just for a little extra reach over the stock antenna.

How will VIPER come in with this VHF antenna? Should I perhaps pick up a wideband scanner antenna?

Thanks.

Working on making a file for my scanner with WIN500,

Trying to get it set up(scanner is still in transit).

Working on TGRP objects for the Franklin county system.

Is it easy as setting it up as P25 manual, then entering the system frequencies?

What about trunking tables?

True P25 systems will "fill in" the table info for you so no need
to worry about that :)

So just fill in the following frequencies from the FCC license?

151.1525 75W
151.2200 75W
151.2800 75W
155.4300 75W
156.0525 25W
156.0750 25W
156.1050 25W
159.2550 25W

The license has them listed as different wattages, does this mean anything significant?

Yep. Of course one should be the Control Channel and the scanner should receive the P25 Band Plan from the CC.

Not from a casual monitoring perspective :)

Will the scanner find the CC automagically or will I need to get that? RMPDcop mentioned 151.2800

I sure hope so or you have something wrong with your radio :D
And you will be the guinea pig for this system as I don't believe
anyone has really mapped it out (with all due respect to RMPDCop and
others). Let us know how it goes!

Yep, still trying to figure it out. Not much testing other than a couple of TG's popping up. Nothing significant to report. When I do find some more out on it. I will add it to the Database.

According to USPS my scanner will be here tomorrow, so if I get it all set up right I'll post my findings here.

Edit: slightly off topic, but does the PRO197 allow for control with the Win500 software?
