I recently purchased a BCD325P2 scanner as well as a new laptop that runs on Windows 10. I want to use Freescan, but cannot find it anywhere. I see many articles on how to use it, but can anyone direct me to where I can actually download it on my computer? Been searching for hours. Thank you

Try this:

I don't believe the 325P2 is supported.

I use ProScan for mine.

The 325P2 can be programmed via FreeSCAN. That's what I originally used, before the DMR & NXDN upgrades came out. Since FreeSCAN does not correctly support DMR, and does not support NXDN at all, I moved my 325P2 programming to ProScan.

I think I may have found it, but when I try to open it, my computer says that I need to switch out of "S" mode, and then there are all kinds of warnings about doing that. Any thoughts? I am truly at the dummy level here

From your latest response, it appears that Proscan might be a better choice. Any info about where I can locate and download it?

According to the wiki the BCD325P2 is supported. There is also a link in the wiki to a Freescan update that supports DMR.
The "updated" version you are referring to will allow you to program a conventional DMR channel, but conventional import does not work (at least, I was never ever to use it, getting a strange error message every time I tried).

Trunking import does not work correctly, as FreeSCAN tries to import a DMR trunk as a Moto UHf system. Also, while you can correct the system type to DMR, and enter the site LCNs once converted, you cannot enter the color codes for site frequencies.

Your PC is running Windows 10 S. As such, it will only allow you to install programs (apps) that are in the Microsoft app store. FreeSCAN is not in that group.

However, you can switch your PS out of 'S' mode, which will allow you to install FreeSCAN and other programs not listed on the Microsoft app store.

ProScan

You can download & use it for a thirty day free trial, before having to either purchase a license, or quit accessing it. The license cost is $50, but includes lifetime updates, as new features are added, or errors are corrected. Besides programming, ProScan also allows virtual control when the scanner is connected to your PC, as well as logging and recording options. The ProScan author, Bob, is very active here on the forums, and responds quite often when someone posts an issue or question.

I think that regardless of whether you install FreeSCAN, ProScan,, or ARCXT, you'll still need to get your PC out of Windows S mode.

Take note that switching out of S Mode is a one-way process. Once you’ve switched out, there’s no going back. So, make sure that you want to disable S Mode for good before you proceed.

so, welcome to the new world.
yes i see i was too late.

I think the timing of your warning was akin to "now pull the trigger, but make sure you have the sights aligned first".
