BoatingSF has their own "scanner" info. Specifically, they maintain a couple AIS receivers that feed near real-time ship-movement to their web-site. They have saved the track of the Cosco Busan and posted it here: http://www.boatingsf.com/busan.php

The odd course and sharp turns are raising a number of questions - especially when coordinated with reports from Ch 14 Vessel Traffic warning the captain that he is off-course and the captain saying he doesn't see that on his displays. I'm personally curious why the tug "Revolution" which was accompanying the ship departed as soon as the ship stopped. Seems like a circle around the ship would have revealed the extent of damage.

As to the scanning aspect, BoatingSF uses SR161 AIS receivers from Milltech Marine (http://www.milltechmarine.com/products.htm) to capture the AIS data then they save it in a database and use custom written software to generate the flash maps.
