I am new to the scanner world, I just bought a new Pro96 still in the box for 50 bucks as of now i have had alot of fun I am a police officer we use a completely digital trucked system so we cant monitor other cities while in service that is in our cars as well as on our preps so i use mine to monitor other surrounding cities as well as our fire department due to the fact that sometimes if there is a accident they will actually dispatch fire rescue sometimes up to 15 minutes before they dispatch us, so i get to respond a little quicker and go to the general area before actually dispatched to the call. Now to my question: my scanner goes as high as 1300 mhz i once and a while will search these upper channels like from 1000.0000 to 1300.0000 mhz but I have yet heard anything there, i was wondering if there was any upper frequencies used here in Michigan and if so what would they be? and there use. thanks

1240-1300 MHz is the 23 Centimeter Amateur Radio Band
Around here it not very active, and propagation is VERY line of sight

crazy

Well it is kinda crazy how they kick up the price of the scanner to cover these frequency bands and yet there is nothing really there for us to monitor

Wow! Thats one long run-on sentence there bud. A few periods would have made that much more readable, and probably understandable. The prosecution must love reading your run-on notes in court.

They didn't... Your scanner would cost the same even if they took those bands out.

Seriously? Is this a court of law? Are you a English major or something? Go back to school if your so worried about proper spelling and punctuation. I have never in all my life seen a site so worried about people's spelling and punctuation than this one. My God just have fun.

BTW...All the periods were for you. Gesh.
