I have a new Unide BCD996XT. When it stops on a frequency it displays another frequency and displays it back and forth. Is this normal?

Are you monitoring a trunked system? If so then the scanner displays the control channel frequency while waiting for a talk-group to become active, then displays the voice channel frequency when there is an active voice channel.

That might be what you are seeing, but a little more information is needed...

This happens on all frequencies all the time. It doesn't matter what freq it is.

Frequency display

Hi,

This is normal if you are listening to a trunked system. My radio alternates between the control channel frequency and the talkgroups actual frequency in use at that moment.

If you listening to a conventional channel or something other than a trunked system, then maybe the priority is set to on.

Either way, I hope this helps.

Thx

Wirelessly posted (iPhone 3GS: Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_3_1 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/533.17.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.0.2 Mobile/8G4 Safari/6533.18.5)

MOde 1, mode 2, and mode 3 make the display, display different things.

Mode 3 is a better settting for you it seems. It will only show the talkgroup ID and doesn't flash back and forth

Mode 2 flashes between the radio ID and the trunked talkgroup IIRC.
