This topic has been discussed in this forum before.
Today I heard units on VECC fire TGs discussing the use of
Talkaround Channels.
I know that UCAN has Ops, Regionals, Events, ITACs, State Rpts, and State T/A's programmed into the template of every radio.

I know what those ITAC & State freqs are, but not everyone else does.
When I check the DB for these 800 Repeaters and simplex freqs, I don't find them. Perhaps they are there and I just didn't look in the right place.

Since UCAN's standard radio template includes the ITAC and State freqs,
I think they should be listed after the UCAN system freqs.

These ITAC & State Rptr freqs are also "Common Use" or "Shared"
So when I look in the file for State Common Use, I should find those freqs.

Conclusion: If someone wants/needs these freqs, they should be readily available. We shouldn't have to search high and low for them.
Your ideas/opinions, pro or con, are welcome.

ITAC Channels in Utah, USA

Thank you, Mike Oxlong, for the link to Common Public Safety freqs.
It is a really great listing, and as thorough as it may be, it falls short.

Lets say I plan to travel the I-15 corridor to Mesquite, AZ. Can you tell me which of the ITAC channels may be active along the route, and where they are located?

I want to go to Moab, UT during the Easter Jeep Safari. Cops from all over the state go there to augment the Grand County Sheriff. They are known to use one of the State TalkAround 800 MHz freqs for speed enforcement and crowd control. If I go to the database and look up Utah>Grand County, will I find listings for any T/A or ITAC freqs?

Utah Communications Agency Network (UCAN) has a map on their website that shows locations of transmitters with ITAC freqs. That information should be part of the DB for any respective county, city, etc.

If you are referring to the ITAC channels only then no, they are common across the continent and don't belong in the State listing. With today's multichannel scanners, it's not a big deal to put all 5 channels in.

However, if you are talking about specific frequencies that are not part of the ITAC channels, then yes, they should be at least listed in the database under Utah's common frequencies or under the individual County.

I checked the database and didn't see any 800Mhz simplex frequencies or repeaters, only VHF. It doesn't appear that anybody has submitted these frequencies yet so you might want to submit them if you haven't already.

Mike (N7YUO), you probably wont find that information in the Grand County section of the DB. It would make sense in a listing of statewide listings of some sort due to being used....statewide. Here is what I have that, although the list Mike has is complete for the whole county, is used by UCAN here in Utah:

ICALL - 851.0125
ITAC1 - 851.5125
ITAC2 - 852.0125
ITAC3 - 852-5125
ITAC4 - 853.0125
State Repeater/Talkaround 1 - 853.4000 (PD)
State Repeater/Talkaround 2 - 853.4875 (PD)
State Repeater/Talkaround 3 - 853.7625 (PD)
State Repeater/Talkaround 4 - 852-1250 (FD)
State Repeater/Talkaround 5 - 852.7000 (FD)

I have heard bicycle patrol from West Valley on T/A 1 in Moab while working the car show crowds, which is two weeks after this years Jeep Safari. They would pair up the WVC bicycle officers with Moab bicycle officers and use the talkaround to rat out people drag racing or drinking on Main Street to dispatch which then would have a patrol unit stop the car using the main dispatch channel on VHF there. I put these freqs in the back bank of my pro 96 (bank 9) and leave it on, Especially when down south in VHF country.

There is a map on the UCAN website that has the ITAC site repeaters for the state. Just map that up with the list above. I will be in Moab the end of next month so I can have more fun with this.

Common use Frequencies in Utah

This information originally from 2006 shows transmitter sites, current and future.
I changed the freqs to the current rebanded ones. Some of the freqs that were shown
as complete in 2006 are not shown on the current map provided by UCAN.
