• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

Does anyone in the Durham Region area kow what causes the interference on FRS Channel 3 (462.61250)? I've been curious for a while, it always just comes in as a skipping sound when it breaks the squelch. Is there something or someone in the area that uses a business frequency that interferes with the adjacent channel spacing?

Also note I do have an audio recording of the aforementioned noise if anyone is also curious.

The Adjacent Frequencies would be GMRS
see what you hear on 462.6250 and 462.6000

What places are you hearing it? Have you tried moving around? Like for example is it only around the house or work? I had a similar issue with a really loud narrowband noise for a few weeks and eventually traced it down to my computer monitor by luck because I shut down as I was listening. Wiped out channel 7 while on for some reason.

I find it anywhere I go through town. I went for a bike ride one day through town with a Midland FRS radio and everywhere I went I would hear it. The last couple years I've noticed it more and more. It's no problem if you use TPL/DPL tones as it blocks it out, but on channels with carrier only it comes in. Just curious if anyone in Southern Ontario, my area, knows anything.

The default frequency in John Deere GPS RTK systems used by farmers is 462.6125. Some never get changed to valid, licensed frequencies. It is kind of a pulsing sound, short transmit bursts. Maybe this is what you are hearing. I've come across these stations on a number of occasions.

It's kind of like that, if you pm me your email I can send you the recording I took on my phone. You can let me know if it's the same sound. It's about 5-10 seconds long.
