Yaesu: FT-5D SD Card write issue

So I formatted a SD Card following all the manual instructions to the letter. The radio writes folders but no files on the SD card. Use a different SD card? Any suggestion?

By "to the letter", do you mean that you formatted the card in the radio?

What's the capacity of the SD card? Some radios don't like large capacity cards. I'd stick with something like an 8 GB card even though the owners manual says the radio can work with up to 32 GB cards.

In order to avoid problems with files getting corrupted during mid-write or mid-read, I'd only insert or remove a card with the radio's power turned off.

Does indicate it has "written" once it appears finished?

Yes, is says written after I run the BACKUP. I formatted and reformatted using the radio multiple times. I am going to try smaller SD cards as the one I am using is 32GB SD card (a little overkill for a radio).

It was the SD card. A new one from Wally World fixed my problem.
