OK, I’ve been banging my head against the radio and the manual for a couple of hours now; maybe one of you can point me to what I’m doing wrong.

I’ve got a ZumSpot and and an OpenSpot; both are successfully connected to the AmericaLink YSF room — I see stations coming and going.

I tune the radio to the output of either, and see the RSSI show full scale, so I know the receiver’s receiving something. I turn up the volume and open the monitor, and yes, I have audio output from the speaker. (Switching to a quiet channel, I can also hear static or FM signals, too, so it’s not an audio problem.)

I press and hold Dx for one second. The radio beeps, and the DN annunciator shows. Yet with either hotspot transmitting, I don’t hear anything.

The only difference I can find in my configuration is that my radio shows T00 above DN, and no one’s elses does on YouTube, etc, does this while demoing the feature. I’ve looked, and tone squelch and DCS are off (can you even turn it on in C4FM? I didn’t think so).

Any thoughts? What could I be missing?

Thanks & 73 de KF6GPE

One other really weird thing. A fellow ham on the Bay-Net mailing list asked me if I’d set the callsign (always a good idea to check!) I had, but that got me to go back to the manual’s SET menu options, starting around page 95, and there’s something weird going on.
In the manual, there’s a menu item for “Digital Squelch” under the digital settings. However, the radio itself doesn’t have the menu! It’s menu 2-2-2, DIGITAL SQUELCH, on p. 96 of the manual. My menu 2-2, DIGITAL, has 5 items while the manual has six!

I’m scrolling through the manual now to see if there’s any other place that may have moved to with a firmware update.

Hi I am having similar issues with my fd1dr also and need help. I can transmit digital and be heard by others but I can’t receive audio so I am very interested in what you find out.

I never did track it down, unfortunately; I ended up passing the radio on to someone who wasn't going to use it for digital purposes. Interesting that I wasn't alone, however.

I am also experiencing the same issue. I know the radio worked previous, but it will not work now. I even tested simplex with my FTM-400 and have the same issue. The FT1DR transmits digital fine, it just can’t receive it. Although the signal meter shows there is traffic on the frequency. I have done a factory reset to no avail.

Thanks for any help,
Evan

John from Yaesu here...

I will 1st ask if you have the last firmware that was issued for the radio? It was over two years ago before the radio was no longer in production. However, if you have T00 that means it does have the DG-ID firmware (explanation on DG-ID can be found on the Yaesu YouTube channel Yaesu USA Official).

Next, did you test with something other than a spot device. I know one person said they did but did it have the latest firmware. If you did and it still does not work it sounds like it needs an alignment at the service center in Cypress, CA.
