I am afraid that I blew up the EXT DC IN port of my FT3D.
Most probably overvoltage.

Other than that, the HT works perfectly well, it only doesn't change anymore via that external power connector

I'm looking for a solution, which can be:
-a repairservice
or
-a service manual (anyone? where can I get one)

There is another question:
If you remove the battery from the FT3D, you see the metal backplate with 3 copper-colored contacts, a white label with SN# .... and
a rubber cap.

I removed it (very easy), and what you see is a hole, thru which you can see a SMS part (could be a resistor??)
What is this for??

Anyone??

Thanks for reading, and 73 de Robbert / PA3BKL

With regard to charging: Did you check the voltage from the charger? Should be 12V. Radio can probably take 11-16V. Wall chargers can be used with 120V and 220V.

Factory service should be the first choice.

The rubber cap may be for making MARS/CAP modification. Not probably useful in Turkey. Might even be illegal.

I use drop in chargers with all my radios. Might be worthwhile to get one.

Best of luck.

You comfortable working with the smallest of surface mount devices? You may find resistors in that radio that are 0.6 mm by 0.3 mm.

You say that the radio works, but it doesn't charge. Two suggestions:
1. Check the wall charger it may have failed.
2. Get a drop in charger. It bypasses the built in charger and should work. You will need a wall charger to plug into the drop in charger, however. Or you could use any 12V power supply. Observe the correct polarity.

It doesn't sound like the radio is blown.
