Background: have a 33 inch Sat dish pointed at Galaxy 19 using a Pansat 2500. In the early morning Al Jazeera English and Russia Today come in fine but with low quality level. By about 8:30 to 9:00am they are too marginal of a signal to watch. Location is SW Ontario.

Is this due to the LNB warming up or something else? I realize a 39" dish would be better but should I just try for a better LNB to avoid changing the dish? LNB is a Digiwave.

Thanks Les

I had many happy days with the old pansat 2500 :) Before you switch LNB's, what's your signal strength and quality ? Maybe just a little dish tweaking ?

Signal is level of 82% quality is 18-30% (in the yellow zone), by about 10 am it drops to level of 82% and quality of 12 to 18%. Dish has been aimed serveral times, up down sideways and skew for best signal.

Other staions such Ebru, Press TV have the same level but a much higher quality (45-60% all in the green).

Just wondering why the time a day affects the signal.

Time of day should have no effect but temperature changes can affect electronics if there is an underlying problem that is temperature sensitive. Sun outages happen twice a year in spring and fall for much of the US for up to a few days depending on dish size.

Is the level or quality of all received signals affected or is it just a specific transponder? If its just one then it could easily be the uplink site having problems like their antenna is not tracking and every 12hrs there would be some mis-pointing and possible degradation.

If all signals are affected together even though some are worse than others then its your hardware and I would suspect the LNB first.

Prcguy nailed it. It's the uplinks !

Dont replace your LNBs.

Wait it out.
