There's been a lot of good suggestions both sent in to Whistler and written in RR about them but doesn't seem to get considered. Either it could be patent issues or the expertise doesn't exist to implement them and/or not worth doing as it doesn't sell more scanners. Most locations in US are going simulcast so Whistler looks to europe and the pacific to sell scanners. But europe have encrypted systems for public safety in almost every country (we have daycare centers, eldery care, meals on wheels and tow trucks and similar low critical services in our encrypted public safety system to help finance it) and as DMR can use encryption, without any additional cost just be ticking a box in the programming software, they also are mostly encrypted, so no markets for whistler to sell large numbers of scanners to get back their investments.
