Other than getting in Tune Mode which I still can't see a use for, what does the Function button do?
It seems useless to have on the keyboard if it only does one thing.

Also Fn + Skip to toggle Skip button function (lockout or skip).
But, only works for programmed objects. Will always lockout search freqs.

Thanks for the explanation's & table. I didn't see that in the manual. I'm looking forward to trying some of the functions later.
I was worried because once I tried pushing Function & something and freaked out when I got an error code that froze the TRX.

The Fn functions where added in later firmwares. If you get errors it might be from not using a late firmware that has those functions?
There are other stuff that has been added since the manual where printed and some stuff are only found in the scanners menu system and not in EZ-Scan.

I'm not sure if there actually are a full documentation of all existing functions that have been added lately. You have to search in RR forum to find them.

o_O Do you not agree it should be released both at the same time? It's like opening a new interstate highway (or road) not telling you where it leads, (and) OMG don't blame us when it leads to somewhere you didn't want to go..... Don't hate, just think about it. o_O
It's more like a new highway being opened but do not yet show on maps and most people do not know about it and use the old road. It doesn't hurt anyone and people not knowing about it are simply taking the longer route.

Whistler are at this moment working on adding more things to the scanner and probably would like to sync the manual with that and release them at the same time. Hopefully before christmas.

If they released a new manual for every update we would have about 30 different manuals just for the trx-1.

Have you looked at Marks easier to read manuals? they were recently updated.

:) Already downloaded. Sometimes, changing functionality is a detriment because 30 or so changes to operation/functionality leaves too many ppl having to relearn their setup/operation. :)

An awesome feature update (that I've already sent in years ago) would be to assign Fn+Pause/Play (currently unassigned) to hold the scanning to just the active scanlist. There is no way to quickly narrow the scope of scanning to one scanlist when you have 20+ active. Gotta go toggle them all off one by one. Then toggle them back on one by one. If you are with me on this, please submit the feature request yourself as well!

There's been a lot of good suggestions both sent in to Whistler and written in RR about them but doesn't seem to get considered. Either it could be patent issues or the expertise doesn't exist to implement them and/or not worth doing as it doesn't sell more scanners. Most locations in US are going simulcast so Whistler looks to europe and the pacific to sell scanners. But europe have encrypted systems for public safety in almost every country (we have daycare centers, eldery care, meals on wheels and tow trucks and similar low critical services in our encrypted public safety system to help finance it) and as DMR can use encryption, without any additional cost just be ticking a box in the programming software, they also are mostly encrypted, so no markets for whistler to sell large numbers of scanners to get back their investments.

You can kinda do that by using the ScanSETS. But I get your point.. However, your way would not be the best. If you wanted to listen to scanlist 10 only and have 20 scanlists select, you would need to continue scanning all 20 until something popped on in scanlist 10, then quickly hit Fn + Pause/Play. A better way would be to hit Fn + Pause/Play at anytime, and it would ask for 1-200 to be entered, the scanner would deselect all scanlists except the one you entered. That would be pretty nice!

Press Fn + 9, and then enter text such as “MY TEXT” and hit Select and it will search and find all tags with that text in it, when you are on the one you want, press select and you are monitoring that channel. REALLY nice feature for when you want to monitor a particular channel in a hurry but don’t know exactly where it is.....

Must be a TRX thing. Doesn't work in my WS1098.
