Just a heads up to mark your calendars. There will be a Grand Opening for the Hearne RR Depot Museum in Hearne, Texas on Saturday October 23rd. The old depot has been and is still being restored, and items from the old days here are on display. Many of the original signs from the late 1800's and early 1900's are on display. There is ample parking, and a great view of "The Crossroads of Texas" RR crossing. It is the E/W and N/S rails which used to be SP N/S, and MP E/W. It's all UP now. There will also be an opportunity to tour the "Camp Hearne" Museum which is a remodeled POW Camp from WW II. The Hearne Golden Rule Masonic Lodge will host a Car & Bike the same weekend. Bring your scanners, and cameras and spend some time in history.... Send me a PM if any other info is needed, or check the Hearne Texas Chamber of Commerce website. I am affiliated with these programs as a volunteer only. I will also have a "Railroad Depot On The Air" amateur radio station later on, and will have a special QSL card for that.
