• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Good mornin All,
I'm looking for some help.

1st. I have a g1 pager that is giving me maybe 12 hours or so of charge. The amount of operation times depends on how long I keep it off the charger before charging it and if I silent scan 2 channels vs 3. I have replaced the batteries etc but seems like they have horrible memory. Im usually silent scanning 3 frequencies, 1 of them supposedly has a "birdie" 153.920 on it. I do not have the dpl enabled for that channel, I'm curious if that would help.

Any suggestions is appreciated.

2nd... my County is switching to a TRS system
Has anybody used the g5 yet, is it worth it? How's the battery life, can you use trunked and conventional channels at the same time, etc? What are it's capabilities?

Thanks

I can't help with the first question.

I and several others are using the G4/5s for scanning. I wouldn't necessarily recommend them for everyone. However, if you're trying to scan a P25 simulcast system, they work much better than the Uniden and Whistler scanners. See my review at the link below for further explanation.

Hello I have both the G1 and G5. The dealer and I also think Unication suggest you replace the batteries in the G1 every 6 months and use Tenergy 1000mah or Power Cell 1000mah. I think the tenergy last longer

As for the G5 It works great however mine is UHF so it will do Uhf or 800 Mhz but not at the same time. It comes with it own battery pack it lasted a long time
