• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

I am setting up G4's and have ran into a issue getting the Alert tone on two tone activation P25 phase II. The pager opens up on the tones and vibrates and will record the call but I do not get the alert tone it just opens up and I hear dispatch. Alert Mode is set to tone and vibrate in both group ID and zone channel settings. Am I missing something? I have tried the tones that are built into the pager and have downloaded costume alerts nothing seems to work

I had the same dilemma at one point until I watched the programming videos a couple of times. On tab 4 (Group ID Settings), highlight the talk group that the paging will be done on. Not the 2 tone frequency sroup you created but the actual trunking talk group. In the column for "Alert Tone" select "Default Tone". Save your profile. Do this only on the talk groups that will have tone decoding on them. Don't do it on talk groups that will just be scanned. Reason being that you'll get a beep every time it receives the talk group. On TG's that will be used for 2-Tone, you won't get the beep.

You stated you already setup the tone parameters in your first post. You set the actual type of alert tone you want you setup the two-tone pair (for conventional) or the A/B tone ranges (for trunking). Perhaps that is the problem that you have "None" as the tone and therefore it just opens but not alerts. There are two very good "how-to" videos from Unication that show how this is done. But the key thing is that if you are two-tone alert on a trunking group, you must set the Alert Tone box to "Default Tone". If you have "None" listed, then the page will just open and receive as you indicated in your first thread.
