• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

I own a G4 pager and am very happy with it. I use the basic charger which I am also happy with. Is there any advantage to getting a amplified charger. Was looking for comments from anyone who may own one. Thank you in advance for any guidance.

I really wish you could program the device in any of their cradles. Besides the external antenna mentioned above, the only other addition that's useful to me is an external audio connection.

For just charging, I don't think there's any difference in how it handles that.

The amplified charger is nice for the extra features it offers - external antenna, speaker, connections for alert lights. But if you just need to charge, you aren't missing out on anything.

For one Nob setting for one County that is north of me I need an external antenna to pick it up clearly. I use a bnc adapter to connect the external antenna and am very carefull putting in the adapter because I do not want any broken pins in the antenna connection. Thank you for your help.

As reported before, my amp charger gives me the advantage of using my G5 as a base receiver . It charges my pager while provides me with powerful sounds and an added external antenna port. I get that the antenna port is designed for the secondary band,, however I use an old RS antenna with improved 1-3 bars over the blue band supplied antenna on our P25P2 700/800 System. The amp charger does indeed amplifies the hissing sound which I am use to.
