• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

Can someone please explain the steps, on how I can replay audio I heard on the pager while scanning, and I missed what they said and I want to replay and listen to it again, basically like the replay feature on the uniden scanners, thank you

Assuming that you have configured both the knob position and talkgroup (if applicable) for "Voice Storage", you can just push the play button (in the center of the select knob) to play back recorded messages in reverse order (i.e. most recent first). You can also use the red square button to enter your "Message Box", where you can navigate through the list and play individual messages (with the blue triangle button).

Unfortunately any new message received will preempt playback, so you may need to "get to a quiet" place (knob position with little or no traffic) to be able to play back without interruption.

perfectly honest, i don really dont know about programming these things, i had mine programmed for me. But from what i looked at in the PPS, i went to D5 and it showed a check mark in all the boxes, and when i went to D6 and clicked on the zone for knob position 1, and scrolled down, i saw voice storage, and it is off, with the only options as being OFF-ID MATCH, no "On" or enable.

You want "ID Match" for P25. CSQ has an option for "All Voice".

I just attempted to work on it, but it’s not saying connected to PC when I plug it up, it always has before, never had this problem, Yeah it makes the sound on the computer when I plug it up, but not doing anything on the G5 other than saying charging when I have it turned off, but nothing happens with it turned on connected to computer

you may have to install the drivers, unplug the radio install the drivers then plug it back in, it will not connects until the PPS is running and you should see the screen blank out and say "PC Connected" with a green check

one last question, so, i think i remember it only recorded 10 minutes worth, so after it fills up, does it record over the older stuff? or do i have to go into settings on G5 and delete them manually? Thanks.

it will overwrite the older, you can pretty much do whatever you want (let it sit and overwrite or delete them doesn't matter), they even have a message backup software you can download them, but it does need some serious work as it has a lot of informational bugs
