• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

No talkgroup hold. It has been asked and asked for years. The only way to “hold” on a talkgroup is to program one talkgroup to a knob position.

I see new features in past releases. Ability move zones up down is huge!

Yeah, but we've been asking for a delay for years and they just won't do it.

Well, there might be some good news after all. Just got off the phone with Ray’s and they said a firmware is in the works that will add a scan delay setting. They said it should be about another month or two away. This would be great news. Now all we need is a scan / hold / resume button and we’ll be all set.

IT'S A PAGER.. UNIDEN sells scanners

I keep seeing that all the time.

Everyone realizes that. But it isn't unacceptable to request options, regardless if "it's a PAGER not a scanner", and will continue.

Uniden sells a jack of all trades that is master of none Even UPMan suggested if you do not have a need for LSM decoding but do need VHF/UHF coverage, perhaps the SDS line is not for you. As a fire scene photographer, the Unication is less bulky, has better reception than any scanner I own, tracks systems properly and has the best audio short of a radio on the system. It does what I want it to, stops where I want it to and is easily programmed for my needs. Whether it is a pager, a scanner or a two way radio, people will ask for features to be added. Would you post the same belittling comment indicating that the person you are replying to doesn't know what they purchased if someone were to inquire about Uniden scanners adding a feature to decode MDC1200 (a feature the Unication has)?

Unication has added several features to their “pagers” over the years. Just because it serves a particular function, doesn’t mean that additional requests cannot be requested and/or developed and implemented. At the end of the day, we are their customers right ? They have done numerous firmware updates to address user needs and requests. Some are obviously a higher priority than others, some are not cost effective for them and some could adversely effect other features. But at the end of the day, it’s an incredible product that is extremely portable and performs as well as a subscriber on P25 trunked systems.
