Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

I bought this charger to not only use as a charger, but want to use it for amplifying the sound. I have been using my G5 at work to listen to, but the audio from the pager speaker is not too loud. I was using a bluetooth speaker but that wasn't working too well. I am kind of worried about leaving the pager in a long state of charging while listening to it. I know most modern day electronics will turn off charging when unit is at full charge. But will this shorten battery life using this charger for listening thru the built in speaker?

Hi Bob
Make sure that pager is fully seated in the amp charger. Looks like it's canted to the side a bit which makes me think it isn't fully seated. You should open the belt clip so that it fits over the clip on the back of the charger slot. If you lift up on the pager it should take the amp charger with it.

I wouldn't worry too much about leaving the pager in the amp charger. Mine has been sitting in the amp charger for years.

I have 2 G5s. One spends a lot of time in the charger and the other goes with me every day. Both batteries were new in late September 2024. When "the wife's" comes out to play we can tell no difference in battery life between the two pagers.

About once a month I make sure to run them both pretty low and then charge them back up and use on battery as needed.

As @w2lie said and I mentioned in another post, make sure to open the belt clip when you insert it and then make sure it's locked in place similar to what you would do hooking it over your belt.
