• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

I get the C only when my G4 is in the charger base. It does not show up when the charger is plugged into the side.

My G5 with phase 2 does not display the "C" at anytime. I have plugged it into the USB to charge and used the drop in charger.

One thing I have noticed though is there are some 'icons' that are supposed to show up at various times and they don't. They are not (at least to me) show stoppers so I have ignored them though I did report them to Unication when I first got my G5.

I don't even recall what they are now and I'd have to find the 'brochure' to see which ones don't appear. I think one was when connected to USB, but don't hold my feet to the fire on it.

I will add that my G4 that gets the C when in the drop in charger is only 1 week old, has Phase II and latest firmware.

The only indicators I see for USB connection/charging is the red/green LED in front of the antenna and the animated battery icon...

I did learn of another icon "set" last week that I had never seen before - an off duty "recording"/message indicator (center of the top of the display)... always learning!

Is one picture a solid C and the second a "outlined" C ? They look different, and wonder if that is any significance?

The amplified charger icon is a solid yellow. The desktop charger icon is a white outline with a blue-green filler. I assume the firmware detects which charger is in use...but why? Maybe the unit needs to know whether to send signals to the amp, relay, ext. speaker port, etc. and the icon is an indicator that’s happening?

Or maybe just a firmware bug?
