    Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value.     The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

    For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

    This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

Galaxy DX 959 no modulation

I have a DX 959, and to get more output, I adjusted the SSB power variable resistor (VR 17) all the way to the right. I was getting great output and I could make the mod meter swing all the way to 100%. Now, I can't get the meter to move off of the pin. Everything else seems to be working normal. Mic is keying up normally and I can hear Talkback. TX light comes on when keying, and I am still RX normally. Everything is stock, no mods. I am running a Solarcon A99. Did I fry something by adjusting VR17 too far?

But what if the meter just gave up the ghost? :D

Curious though if he made any contacts after it stopped working and or if it's working normally in AM mode?
Is it a stock microphone, have you tried turning in back to see if it works again and has the antenna been properly tuned?

I have a DX949 for about 2 years now and had no problems with it. From what I read about these radios they are capable of handling a considerable amount when "peaked and tuned correctly."

How ever one of my first radios did that because of an improperly tuned antenna.
