I was listening to the Oxnard PD this evening and heard the dispatcher say a subject was last "associated with group 301". I am assuming this is brevity code for the specific gang he is affiliated with, but is there any way to know which one? I did some searching, but I wasnt able to find anything.. Is this something that is specific to Oxnard PD, or is there a statewide list?

Yeah I hear the same all the time, each gang has its own code. I dont know what what code is for what gang, or if its just a Ventura County thing, but i would assume it might be a state data base thing, Also i dont think anything is posted public about it. Im in Oxnard/Port hueneme !

Cool! What else is there to listen to around here? I only have my handheld (pro-97), so its difficult for me to hear alot of stuff. I mostly listen to Oxnard PD, Oxnard FD, and some coast guard stuff usually on the distress channel 156.80000 or civilian 1 157.10000. I can pick up the VNC sheriff dispatch, but not the units in the field.

You can get Ventura PD very good they are on repeater. 155.3100, CHP dispatch is heard good also but not all the time the units on 42.400, Oxnard PD is my priority channel as they are always pretty active.

Only someone in the inside will be able to tell you this. That code was most likely specific to your area (a local gang). If they were referring to a statewide list, then it must have been a prison gang parolee affiliated with either the Mexican Mafia (Surenos, Southern CA), or Nuestra Familia (Nortenos, Northern CA. Unlikely, as Oxnard seems to be out of their "jurisdiction" ), or Aryan Brotherhood (statewide). Hells Angels are also statewide, and many Hells Angels parolees are Aryan Brotherhood affiliated. Bloods and Crips gang parolees are known to be affiliated with the Black Guerrilla Family prison gang (African-American prison gang). Your best bet is to go on a ride-along, and request that you ride with a gang cop.

It could be a CalGang deal, but I'm not at all sure that dispatchers would generally be allowed access to it.

GangNet Demo®

Probably a local thing.

Its been awhile but got some update info. T

The codes are unique to Ventura County and Oxnard PD primary uses and maintains the gang data base (they have the biggest gang problem) but is shared with other agencies. there's about 15 gang and many more tagging crews. Didn't ask about the numbering i.e. 301 etc.

are you sure the dispatcher didnt say 310 ?

gangs lacking any creative expression.. like to call themselves based on what ATT gave them for phone lines a lot of times

310 would be the santa monica area area code

always made me chuckle when the bay area 415 was big and then ATT chopped them up heh into 925 and 510 etc

the phone company broke up the big gang into little gangs irony huh

Has nothing to do with area codes Ventura County is 805 area code, so is santa barbara and San Luis Obispo so that wouldnt work.....301, the 3 can be that the gang is based in Oxnard (3 is the station number for Oxnard from the county numbering system of PD's) and 01 the first gang on the list for Oxnard etc. so a gang out of Ventura City would be 201 since Ventura is station 2 but im just guessing at that.
