• Effective immediately we will be deleting, without notice, any negative threads or posts that deal with the use of encryption and streaming of scanner audio.

We've noticed a huge increase in rants and negative posts that revolve around agencies going to encryption due to the broadcasting of scanner audio on the internet. It's now worn out and continues to be the same recycled rants. These rants hijack the threads and derail the conversation. They no longer have a place anywhere on this forum other than in the designated threads in the Rants forum in the Tavern.

If you violate these guidelines your post will be deleted without notice and an infraction will be issued. We are not against discussion of this issue. You just need to do it in the right place. For example:

Thought I'd continue the gas leak saga in it's own thread. I think the intention of the sub-forum was a thread per incident instead of 1 never-ending thread for all, as Mike pointed out.

Latest news is that they are convening a conference call at 1600 to discuss all that has happened thus far and make plans for the night ahead.

Actually, now that I created the new thread, I see the limitation that the others mentioned--the fact that you can only get daily alerts at the forum level, not instant like on a specific thread. For that reason, it is definitely better to dump everything into a single thread in order to get instant alerts. I have e-mail filters configured to send them to my mobile phone.
