Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge/Dollywood

This is more out of curiosity (and that I might visit this summer). I know all of the Fire/EMS/Police have digital encoding/encryption of sorts but are Dollywood in the clear? are there any other touristy places using radio comms? Is there much in the way of MURS/GMRS/FRS/ etc? Just trying to get a general idea of what scanning is like there these days. I wish I was into scanning in the mid 90's (last time I was in that area). I bet that area was a blast to listen to back then.

Dollywood is in the clear so have fun http://www.radioreference.com/apps/db/?aid=1755 and also http://www.radioreference.com/apps/db/?sid=1195
MURS is used as well as a GMRS repeater somehwere as I can hear the identifier but have never determined where it is located, possibly in Knoxville.
Pigeon Forge Police are P25 digital, you can monitor them. http://www.radioreference.com/apps/db/?sid=6828
All other law enforcement are NXDN digital, so monitoring them is not going to happen.
MOST volunteer fire departments are on the Land Air LTR system and in the clear. http://www.radioreference.com/apps/db/?sid=6774
You can hear Fire/EMS dispatched on 454.100 MHz.
Monitor FRS freqs, a lot of places use them even though they aren't supposed to.
The Great Smoky Mtn national Park is P25 digital, you can monitor them also.
http://www.radioreference.com/apps/db/?aid=2063 (scroll down the list to find them)
Have fun and enjoy your visit.

When I was living in Asheville, NC, and making regular commutes to Knoxville, and up through the GSMNP, they were just transitioning fully to the new P-25 system. I monitored the whole shebang and yes the UHF linkage was fully active. The BRP was just setting up its digital net when I left, so I didn't get to hear much on the P-25 side on it.

Try doing a search. With all the businesses down the strip you may come across some interesting stuff around happy hour and later.
