Realize will be a hole through the drywall but never doing this before hoping there will be some tips.

I have actually fished them inside walls.

I like back corners of closets best.

When I built this house I put two open pipes from the basement to the attic.

If you have TV/cable leads already installed at or close to where you want to run your scanner coax, you can run the coax down the same way. Remove the wall plate for the antenna connection and disconnect the lead-in. Tie a long cord (have plenty on hand), like package twine, to the lead-in, then go up in the attic where the lead-in runs down through the wall and pull it up. When you have the end, tie another piece of cord to the lead-in, then pull the lead-in and second cord back down through the wall. Now you've got cord that you can use to pull cable up or down through the wall. When you're done, you can pull the cord up into the attic for use if you decide to change cables around. (Make sure, of course, that the other end is secured at the wallplate!)

If no wall plate is available, then you can go into the attic and locate the wall you want to mount the plate on. The wall will usually have a 2x4 cap on it that you'll have to drill through. Once you drill through, take a peice of line and tie a weight on the end of it. It helps to have someone in the room below to tell you if your hitting the bottom as you drop the line. If they tell you that it's only half way down and it's hitting something, you've hit a fire break and you'll have to move over a few feet and try it again. One you have the line hitting the bottom, just cut a hole in the dry wall near where it hit bottom and pull the line through. Then tie to a cable and pull it through.

Next hous I build, it's going to have plenty of empty conduit running through it.

Actually finding the exact place to drill can be tricky. To help locate where your gonna drill at strip about a foot and a half of coax down to it core and poke that through the drywall in the ceiling.

It makes the job a snap, and when you pull it out of the ceiling, you can not hardly tell there is a tiny hole there.

JUST BE VERY CAREFUL YOU DONT PUT YOUR FOOT THROUGH THE SHEETROCK WHEN YOUR CRAWLING AROUND THE ATTIC!!

ALSO ANOTHER TIP.... IF YOUR GOING FROM ATTIC TO BASEMENT ON A ONE STORY HOUSE, DRILL A HOLE IN THE ATTIC AND A HOLE IN THE BASMENT( LINED UP IN SAME BAY OF COURSE) NOW IN THE ATTIC DROP A LEAD SINKER WEIGHT ON A STRING. GO TO THE BASMENT AND USE A COAT HANGER BENT STARIGHT TO SNAG THE STRING. BETTER YET USE A FISH TAPE.

IF IT'S TWO STORY WITH A BASMENT, GO IN THE ATTIC AND LOOK FOR WHERE THE CHIMNEY OR VENT STACK GOES UP, NORMALLY YOU CAN DROP A STRING WITH A WEIGHT ALL THE WAY TO THE BASEMENT.

ANY MORE SUGGESTIONS MESSAGE ME

I had to redo to house town house we rented in Maryland. There was only cable/phone on the first floor and it was a 3 story town house...

When I ran the cable and phone lines, I also sent some CAT-5 and coax for antenna lines.

That was fun...

It's There

Got my pull line up into the attic.
Not much trouble.
Started on an outside wall.
Was wondering why my line wouldnt go down.
Insulation stupid.
DOH!

Had to remember "DONT FALL THRU SHEETROCK"

Gotta get some LMR 400 now.
Should I pay extra for the ultraflex?
Is there a website or someting to show how to connect connectors to the cable ?

Thx.
