Ghost Frequencies

I was watching Ghost Adventures on the travel channel and they were using a scanner that went through radio frequencies and picked up misc. EVP's and other spirits talking.
I wanted to see if anybody knew the band or a reliable frequency range to pick up EVP's and what's the best antenna (if using one) for this purpose. I'm only trying to pick up short range and local EVP's


this person had some success but they never mentioned what frequencies they were scanning through and they never mention it on Ghost adventures: Evp/Itc Manual scanning method - YouTube

I did use the search feature but after reading dozens of threads I didn't come up with much

I saw that thing being used. Very creepy. It sounds like it rapidly scans active stations that are talking and only uses a portion of what is broadcasted from each frequency coming up with words. If so it is setup alot different than a scanner and a scanner probably wont do the job although Im not a ghost or radio expert. Ghosts dont bug me and I dont bug them.

The devices you saw merely scan the AM broadcast band. Josh has stated that before on ghost adventures. I think it's also explained in wiki.

Auditory pareidolia is a situation created when the brain incorrectly interprets random patterns as being familiar patterns. In the case of EVP it could result in an observer interpreting random noise on an audio recording as being the familiar sound of a human voice. The propensity for an apparent voice heard in white noise recordings to be in a language understood well by those researching it, rather than in an unfamiliar language, has been cited as evidence of this.

EVP are usually recorded by raising the "noise floor" – the electrical noise created by all electrical devices – in order to create white noise. When this noise is filtered, it can be made to produce noises which sound like speech. This, in combination with such things as cross modulation of radio stations or faulty ground loops can cause the impression of paranormal voices. The human brain evolved to recognize patterns, and if a person listens to enough noise the brain will detect words, even when there is no intelligent source for them. Expectation also plays an important part in making people believe they are hearing voices in random noise.

If you're going to be a critic you can do a little better than copy and pasting excerpts from wikipedia of all places. A lot of people think differently like the lady in my first post. You might want to try scanning the ghost bands once and a while yourself.
