"Ghost" Tail Number help:

A bit of a mystery here. I first started to monitor this a/c at about 8:30PM EST Sunday evening, after I heard the radio operator give a position report "in the blind" to Santa Maria. Santa Maria attempted to reach the a/c on 5598 on several occasions, then requested other a/c in the area to attempt to call a/c.

Santa Maria did establish comms with the a/c at 8:50PM but the operator appeared somewhat confused as to her exact position. Anyway, the tail number given by the operator female/perfect English is what is nagging me. I cannot find any registration of the tail number in any data base.

Tail number Victor Victor Paul Romero 528. Any guesses?

Also, it does appear that a/c registered on a number of various islands in the Caribbean start with "VP". Is it possible that the pilot just repeated the "V"?

Don't believe so. Santa Maria hailed the a/c numerous times using above call/sign tail number and the a/c responded likewise.
