In the trash can!! Just kdding...If you must use a glass mount, You want it on a clean piece of window. By clean I mean no defroster wires, tinting, in-glass AM/FM antennas, etc. You can put it on a window that has those things, just not on top of them. Good luck!!

The one I bought from RS and installed on our Explorer was a POS.

I found my rubber duck was performing just as well,So I remoeved it.

I read a lot of negative comments on the glass mounts however I must say I have used one on my car for 8 years and can not complain on its performance. VHF is not to bad, UHF is really good and 800Mz is fair. True my magnet mount on my truck performs better but for what it is not a bad little antenna.

You figured right. I had one for a month or so. My rubber duck on my scanner inside the car works just as well.
It stays in place nicely with Velcro. Then I clip a lapel speaker onto the seat belt right near my ear. Even with the window open on the highway it sounds great. I've heard Hi Band 40 miles away and 800 is good.

I had a glass mount antenna a long time ago on my Z24 and the performance was not that bad, but better then the rubber duck inside the car thats for sure.
Now I drill all my vehicles in the centre of the roof for the NMO mounts and the performance is great.

IMHO, no, they are not much use at all. You will experience better or about the same performance using a rubber duckie on your scanner.

I have a 2002 Taurus SES. I mounted the antenna on the small window of the driver side back door. No problem, works like a charm.
