Gloves For Use With Uniden Home Patrol HP-1

I am posting this here because the Uniden Home Patrol HP-1 is the only scanner that I am aware of that has a touch screen. Anyway, I was in a Verizon store last night and I saw that they had Isotoner SmarTouch gloves for $45.00 that allow a person to use gloves with a touch screen phone. (The same gloves were $25.00 at Staples.) Anyway, I am wondering if anybody here has used these in general or with the Home Patrol HP-1 specifically? I would love to here your report on these.

Hi JASII...may I ask what are you touching the HP-1 screen with now? Seems like Verizon or Isotoner is looking to sell you something you don't really need.

I use a handheld information storage system at work that has a touch screen and I use the flat part of my index fingernail to touch the screen.

So that's how it works. I was wondering why my phone does not respond well to touches while sitting on the desk.

Slight clarification.. HP-1 is a RESISTIVE touch screen. Most new smartphones (like the iPhone) are CAPACITIVE. A resistive screen responds to pressure and the capacitive screen responds to conduction.

The special gloves include conductive thread to complete the circuit between your finger(s) and the screen.

A normal pocket pc-style stylus can be used with a resistive screen, whereas a special stylus must be used with a capacitive screen.
