Anyone have any fire frequencies for this wildfire incident

The Goat Rocks Fire is a federal fire on the Gifford Pinchot National Forest. It had a federal interagency fire management team and during that time it used a National Interagency Fire Center (NIFC) radio system. At least it is likely it did. As of today it was turned over to local national forest management. Look up the Gifford Pinchot National Forest (GPNF) in the database as that is what they will be using from here on out. For tactical frequencies beyond what might be in use on the GPNF look up the nationwide frequencies in the database and look for the NIFC system. There are 6 nationwide tactical frequencies listed. Tac use might be on one of those frequencies.

Local, county/city jurisdictions are not in charge of fires on federal lands. Sometimes finding command, air to ground, air to air and tactical frequencies can be difficult and I won't try to explain why here. If you are close to a fire set up a limit search between 166.5000 and 169.5000 for tactical frequencies. For command search 169.5000 to 173.9875. You might get lucky and find a command repeater network. If more than one repeater is installed for a command network each repeater transmits whatever is being transmitted by any one of the repeaters on the network so that no matter a person on the ground can hear all command traffic even when it might be out of range. If you find listings in the database look for a link to the Radio Reference wiki pages. There is a pretty good article on the NIFC system that will guide you in the future.

I should add that the information for the NIFC system in the database and the wiki article need some serious updating. In the past I've tried to stay on top of doing a great deal of updating/writing for these. Right now I'm not overly motivated with Radio Reference so if I do any updates it will be awhile.
