• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

Found this on EBAY, no scratches, original desk mic. The seller was great and helped me through an issue with the mod switch on the front. The mod adds most channels above 23 up to 40. I get great audio reports. I remember these as a kid. I read these were built in the late '60's early '70's.sbe front to post.jpg

One of my mentors back in the early years ran one of these with a 8 element home made quad beam... he lived on a small lot close to a highway going through town and when he cranked up the tower and turned the beam it literally hung out over the highway. I remember many nights at his little shop out back making contacts via groundwave to people in states a couple hundred miles out just on what power the radio put out. His radio had 3 switches, it went up above channel 40 and below channel 1 several channels, above 40 we used sideband, and below 1 was usually am.

The good ole days of CB in the 70's. chatting with locals at Andrews AFB or truckers on the road to and fro. There was much more decorum back then on the air for the most part and even though we all had "handles" we did not talk over each other or spout political nonsense or racist crap. Times have definitely changed. Too bad.

We have a group that meets every evening on 33LSB. No profanity allowed. We've gained participants who have listened over time and pop in once in awhile. It's mostly old timers like me but there are younger ones and it's fun listening to their experiences with the hobby.

Please post in full detail how you accomplished this.
Well it's just that our group are all older folks, some are hams like me. Our discussion topics are fun, informative, technical etc. There are two who are currently studying for their ticket so mentoring and sharing info takes place. Command of the English language to describe something keeps interest instead of using the F-bomb every other sentence. We grew up with CB as kids (I'm 59 now) and CB has always been an environment that you could have children around. Noted once in a great while some idiot will drop in to cause trouble but the key is not to acknowledge them and they go away in search of someone who will feed their need for de-constructive behavior on the air.
