• Effective immediately we will be deleting, without notice, any negative threads or posts that deal with the use of encryption and streaming of scanner audio.

We've noticed a huge increase in rants and negative posts that revolve around agencies going to encryption due to the broadcasting of scanner audio on the internet. It's now worn out and continues to be the same recycled rants. These rants hijack the threads and derail the conversation. They no longer have a place anywhere on this forum other than in the designated threads in the Rants forum in the Tavern.

Here is my current problem. I am trying to get the NMEA GPS Data that my 5100 should be able to output and use it for APRS. I have a TNC-Pi working on the bench, but I want to put GPS in to it. What settings do I need to enable to get GPS out from the Data Port. I have a FTDI chipset 2.5mm to USB cable. What program can I run on my windows laptop to confirm that I am getting this data out of my radio before I try to interface with Xastir on the Pi. Has anyone else successfully used the 5100 data for APRS purposes?
